Engineering the future: training teachers to develop tomorrow's engineers

This report explores the potential for supporting university students training to become primary teachers in computing, design and technology (D&T) and science to develop a better understanding of how engineers think using an engineering habits of mind (EHoM) framework (Lucas, Hanson and Claxton, 2014). Its hypothesis is that if student teachers understood more about the ways in which engineers think and more about the environment in which they work, this will increase the likelihood of them introducing engineering topics into their teaching, initially during teaching practice, but potentially when they begin practising as qualified teachers.
