Katrina's current research interests are equality in the workplace, employment relations and pay & reward.

Biography

Dr Katrina Easterling, PgDip, MSc, PgCert, DProf, Chartered CCIPD, is a Senior Lecturer in Management, specialising in Human Resource Management. She was awarded the honorary status of Chartered Companion by the Executive Board of the CIPD in December 2019, to recognise her outstanding contribution to the HR profession and her work on bringing equality into the workplace.  

She currently lectures on Employment Relations, Human Resource Management and Critical Reflective Practice. As an academic practitioner, she has worked in senior appointments for the private, public and voluntary sectors. She has held a variety of board positions including HR Director, Trustee and Non-Executive Director, in addition to two public appointments.

Katrina has a background in the healthcare sector, working for international companies in senior Human Resource roles. She was the HR Director for a FTSE 250 biotechnology company and Head of Human Resources for a global medical devices organisation.

She has held two public appointments: as Member of a national Pay Review Body for the NHS (The Review Body for Doctors and Dentists Remuneration) and an Independent Panellist for the Judicial Appointments Commission.

She has co-authored a number of reports on pay and motivation for the Prime Minister and First Ministers of Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The recommendations in these reports have been presented to the House of Commons by the Secretary of State for Health.

Katrina has served as a Non-Executive Director and Trustee for the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). She was a member of the CIPD’s Disciplinary Panel. 

Katrina holds a Professional Doctorate, teaches on the Doctorate of Business Administration Programme and supervises doctoral students.  She holds a postgraduate qualification in Coaching and Mentoring.
