Research interests
Jane is interested in researching the role of talk in developing children’s reasoning skills in primary mathematics. Within Initial Teacher Training, she is also interested in researching effective ways to help develop trainee teachers’ mathematical subject knowledge.
Biography
Jane is a Senior Lecturer in Education (Mathematics for Primary ITE). She has over 10 years of teaching experience in primary schools across Hampshire. During this time she worked as a Leading Maths Teacher before taking up the post of Mathematics Consultant for Hampshire Local Authority. Prior to joining the Maths Team at the University of Winchester she co-ordinated Mathematics at a School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) provider. Jane also teaches on the Mathematics Specialist Teacher (MaST) programme for Poole Local Authority.
