Caroline Wilson

Caroline Wilson LLB, LLM, PCAP (Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice) is Senior Lecturer in Business Law and Corporate Governance. She has an undergraduate and Master's degree in Law from University College London (University of London), where she was also the recipient of UCL and University of London academic scholarships.

In 2010, following fifteen years of full-time academia, Caroline began working full-time as a legal consultant specialising in legal and ethics training, accountancy professional education and inter-disciplinary research and training. 

Caroline brings more than twenty-five years’ experience from the private sector and academe to her teaching and research at the University of Winchester, where she has been a part-time member of staff since 2015, whilst continuing to work as a legal consultant. She has extensive experience of professional accountancy training and has been on the examination team for national and international ACCA professional accountancy examinations.

• Caroline’s research interests relate to governance, intangible assets, innovation and the legal and ethical regulation of near-future technologies
• Her teaching interests lie in legal compliance and ethics for accountants, corporate governance and aspects of Sustainability education.

• Co-founder and member of ILAWS (the Institute of Law and the Web at Southampton), securing private sector funding for this Institute.
• Active in externally funded research initiatives, attending Research Council sandpits and been involved in a variety of Web Science and Digital Economy national and EU funding bids, e.g. having Part of the consortium and co-applicant for a large European FP7 STREP project on social networking in a political context – WeGov [http://www.wegov-project.eu] in 2009-10.
• Secured an internal LTEF grant of approx. £10k for the co-development of online skills modules for the overseas University of Southampton LLM students skills LAWLO Project in 2008/9.
• Part of the University team that secured the multi-million pound funding for a Web Science Doctoral Training Centre (part of the RCUK Digital Economy Programme) in the University of Southampton in 2008/9.
• Recipient of the inaugural University of Southampton Vice-Chancellor’s Award for teaching in 2005.
• Secured various fully funded PhD places (fees with £13k stipend) for the University of Southampton Law School and commercial funding for student activities.
