Description
DanceHE and Northern School of Contemporary DanceMaking Dance a Safe Place for dangerous conversations.
It is an exciting time for Dance in Higher Education. In research, we see an increasing breadth of engagement and diversity, forging relationships through the realisation of new knowledge. Dance programmes continue to challenge old rules, interacting across disciplines and with partners across the globe.
What is our claim for attention to be given to Dance?
What are the possibilities of disciplinary futures for Dance in Higher Education?
Are we caught-up by visions of the future, set out by others, that distract us from what we know about the possibilities of gaining knowledge through Dance?
What do we need to do now, to preserve access to Dance in Higher Education, acknowledging ourselves to be moving, thinking beings?
How do we make people listen to what we know of bodily knowing and transmission?
Does Dance matter?
It is up to us to be clear in argument and intent if there is to be a future for Dance in HE. Hosted by the Standing Conference for Dance in Higher Education (DANCEHE).
